Laying Workers (Drone Brood)
The above clipping is from CC Miller's book "50 Years Among the Bees" page 117
The above picture from Bee Informed Partnership shows what brood from laying workers look like
I have found that when the hive is a strong colony before I give it a queen cell or a virgin queen I will take the hive about 50 feet away and shake all the bees on the ground then place all the frames back in the hive body on the old stand. The bees will return to the old hive, but the laying workers will not. Do not delay in giving a queen cell or virgin queen or the hive will develop more laying workers.
